Pope at Washington Circle

My co-worker wanted to see the Pope so I went with her to Washington Circle (two Metro stops away). Almost as soon as we got to the Circle we saw the motorcade and I saw the Pope-mobile before I even had my camera ready.

MP4 Version

I felt sorry for one older lady. She was walking really slow and had literally only missed him by a few seconds.

I found it interesting that Catholics and non-Catholics alike (I’m not Catholic) were standing out there waiting for the Pope. In the Metro station a guy came up to me (something that I’m sure wouldn’t talk to me under normal circumstances) to see if I had gotten a good picture of the Pope. I thought that was really interesting.

Back outside of McPherson Square metro station, we heard sirens. One of the traffic officers who work that corner asked rhetorically “Is that him?” bursting with excitement. I thought that was interesting too.
